My experience in a JRF post interview

Hi friends ,

I was shortlisted for an interview for JRF post to work under the Project which is sponsored by DBT .Its a collaborated project between NIN , Hyderabad and  another University ( Let it b confidential). I went there by train from hyd and it got almost  one and half hr late .Anyways i managed to get there with help of my uncle by 9.15.After reaching there i thought "its really better to be late".becoz i had waited almost 2 hrs for my turn  ( Dont think there are too many candidates It was just me and another 4 candidates.Mean while they checked all our certificates and i didnt get what they r still waiting for) Among others two of them were GATE qualified like me and other one was CSIR qualified.( i know.. i know..  that's why i lost my hope then and there. hmm).
Then the interview started  when  Our Project principle investigator (madam) had arrived.( ohh She is really pretty cute..)
Actually there are 3 professors ( dont wanna reveal their names) other than madam, who had interviewed us.They asked me the questions such as:
- Introduce my self.
- tell them  what do I know about this project
- What practicals did i perform in M.Sc
-  and their Principles (  yaa its difficult to remember soooo suddenly isn't it)
Any way i was able to answer them about 80 % of the que they asked me and the worst part is that   they asked me about enzymology which i am truly weak at. ( i suggest u plz  never ever mention enzymology when they ask what u had done unless u are a pandit in that thing)
Yes i was almost  selected . but not for the post what i had applied for , but for project assistant post which will have a stipend of Rs 8000  and for  jrf  its about 16000 + HRA . ( oh holy crap...).
well they said that they will confirm through e mail.I think that csir fellow might get the jrf post.

All i want to say is  have a tight  grip on basics, project related back ground study, and its connected practical principles.

For example, the project here is " Dietary Phytate - its mineral interactions and its role in suppressing colon cancer"
ur back ground study must be focused on the following ( really i dont wanna get u feel  bored guys  , that's y i will wrap up with the outline)
 -  what's phytate  . like its source , structure
- its Negative and Positive aspects.
 - A decent study on colon cancer and what's the role of phytate on cancer cells.
-  what's the desirability to do the project  ...like to handle animals
- techniques used -- like blottings,  basic estimations etc .

     Finally the moral is that " 50% ur luck - 50% ur schmuck + 50 % ur chamak + 50 % ur  tweak =  100 % job

All the Best....

Interview tips 1

It is proved in a study conducted with thousands of interviewers around the world that the person interviewing you decides whether to give you the job or not within the " First 4 seconds" of your presence in his room....... Shocking yet interesting!!! So my simple advice would be, stay as confident as you can and give them an impressive greeting. Why you are asked to introduce yourself is
(1) to see what kind of a person you are and your approach and
(2) to check whether the personal details and qualifications mentioned in your CV are true. Whatever you speak must be in conformation with what is mentioned in your CV... ( That's how they decide in 4 seconds). So give a confident , short and positive introduction which speaks about your professional qualification and competencies.... that will do.. ........ be slow and steady....... never rush.!!!

All the Best!!!!

My Experience in a SEEDS company

Hi friends,
As I was taking  coaching for GRE , I am not at all Prepared for CSIR. Hope u guys attempted well. I thought it will be waste of  my time and thought to have a glance and  attended a Walk in interview in Vibha seeds which was said to be a MNC company in UK. They had actually asked for freshers in M.SC botany , Biotech and seed production  with 0-1 year experience  to recruit in various posts in R and D , Production and Marketing sections.
I thought that  as there was CSIR exam today , many of them will be nt able to come there. But after going there i was terribly shocked by seeing almost 160 members .The main point is among them almost  150 people are from Biotechnology Department.   I just felt OHHHH MYYYY GODDDD. (Bcozz guys we face competition from  M.TECH Biotech also).Among them they had shortlisted 40 members by conducting a written test. Of course i was not selected , If i have been selected then what's the need of telling this story guys... ha ha.
I was later informed that the company was offering almost 16 K by taking 2 years bond. yaa thats nt good. And the work load is also high.
One thing i wanna say is that when you go for an interview in any company which is commercially producing any biotech products.Make yourself well known about that company.Read there official website once or twice and become aware of the work that's going on in the company and prepare yourself on that related area.
In vibha seeds ,mostly they had been working on molecular markers , so they had asked about various molecular markers which have the names that WE HAD NEVER HEARD OF during our M.Sc.
So guys wake up.Dont study books .and jussst followwww the net.and dont be a jerk like me.

ALL THE BEST.
